Patients can become an active part of research by taking part in clinical trials.&lt;\/h5&gt;\n&lt;h5&gt;Through clinical research, we aim to improve and expand knowledge of this illness so that diagnostic tools can be put in place and new treatments can be developed. This scientific approach aims to show that molecules with therapeutic properties in plant and cell models can be used to treat people.&lt;\/h5&gt;\n&lt;h5&gt;&lt;strong&gt;As clinical research is split into several stages, you can join at different points:&nbsp;&nbsp;&lt;\/strong&gt;&lt;\/h5&gt;\n&lt;h5&gt;Stage 1: Is this treatment dangerous for people?&lt;\/h5&gt;\n&lt;h5&gt;Stage 2: What is the correct dosage for this medication?&lt;\/h5&gt;\n&lt;h5&gt;Stage 3: Is this treatment more effective than placebo\/the standard treatment?&lt;\/h5&gt;\n&lt;h5&gt;Stage 4: Are there side effects? They will assist the investigating physician once you have given consent to take part and will take part in your follow up visits. They are the link between the sponsor and the trial and will be involved in arranging follow-ups and monitoring.
